Effort and cost estimation

Assign estimation cards and understand the calculation.

Enable estimation in the project

In the project settings, you can enable effort estimation and select the card deck. T-shirt sizes and Fibonacci values are available. Agree on a shared understanding of the sizes within your team.

Estimate tasks

Open a task and choose a card from the active deck under Estimation card. This field is not shown when estimation is disabled. Tasks without a value remain unestimated.

A large task is often easier to estimate after you break it into subtasks. Estimation cards describe expected effort; they do not replace actual recorded working time.

Open cost estimation

Select Cost estimation in the navigation or the calculator icon in a project's row. Narrow the area down with filters and check the selected tasks.

The view provides an overview and the corresponding task list. You can narrow the selection and use the available export function for the calculation.

Understand the estimation matrix

The estimation matrix assigns time and cost values to cards. It can be configured at organization, tenant and project level. Check the values effective for the project before using the calculation as a planning basis.

Check before sharing

  • Are the intended projects and tasks selected?
  • Which tasks still lack an estimation card?
  • Does the card deck match the matrix being used?
  • Have hourly rates and time assumptions been agreed with the team?

A calculation is an estimate based on the configured values. Update it when the scope or assumptions change.
